zerepcaerdna asked: hi do I know you?

Corey’s brother.

Today I bought these new Sperry’s.  This is my third pair and I look forward to keeping them the most clean, they are white after all.

I Love Urban Outfitters.  More importantly, I want these and almost every other pair of shoes from Urban Outfitters.  Of course it’d be wonderful to make my own shoes with my own aesthetic, but until then UO is the perfect motivation to get rich- so that I can buy all of the shoes, well all of the UO attire that I want.  My girlfriend will have to understand that in life, my shoes will come first. :)
P.S. I also just got the new Express catalog; have you noticed that even those kinds of stores (i.e. Banana Republic, Gap, Express) which are frequented by “metrosexual men” are becoming less flash and glam, and more (we all hate to use the word) hipster.  That’s the thing that separates our wonderful fashion from those of the mall chain stores, we set our own trends.  As for the mall chain stores, they are just now catching on that vintage is in (any real eye for fashion knows that vintage is always in).  We all know that our fashion needs have always and will always be met by UO, Goodwill, and thrift stores.
P.P.S. Cardigans rule!

First film review: Schindler’s List

Today I am writing a review on Schindler’s List. You say to yourself “but I thought it came out in the ‘90’s” and you are correct, but for some reason I have not seen it until today.

For future reference, I tend to watch old movies, although they may be old to you, well you can figure out what I would say next. Also, you can bet that they will usually be on foreign films.

So the film, it was very good I have to say. It goes unsaid that Liam Neeson is a favorite of mine, and should be a favorite of yours. It’s quite astonishing that the movie is a true story, he truly was a hero. My only beef with the movie was that it was in English. I certainly felt the emotions from these actors, but the fact that it was in English kind of kept me more separated from the story than I’m sure was intended. As far as Holocaust movies go (I always prefer not to watch these films as I know it had no happy ending an therefore it’s an emotionally draining experience) this film was indeed not as sad as I expected, and did have a happy ending. I certainly agree with a movie rating website, and would rate this in the 90% range.

The Oscars 2011

Award season leading up to the Oscars was, in a word, marvelous. The obvious reason was that “The Social Network” was winning all of the important and significant accolades. Then the Oscars came and like last year, stunk up the room. If you remember last year, a possible 4 out of the 10 nominees were good films (Avatar was not one of them) and only 2 of those were great. The lesser of the two, “The Hurt Locker” won, leaving the best film of the year, “Inglourious Basterds” with only 1 award. This year however, seemed to be a landslide in favor of “The Social Network”, the best film of 2010. Of course the Oscars ignored public adoration and cultural significance of “The Social Network” and chose “The King’s Speech” as the best film. Again, although this year’s nominees were better films (I saw most of them), I only saw one true-deserving champion. I’ll say this, “The King’s Speech” was not undeserving of “best film”, but “The Social Network” was more deserving. The Academy didn’t even have the decency to award David Fincher his deserving prize. A great film is nothing without a talented director and an even better script. “The Social Network” was flawless and I cry inside that it was not given it’s proper recognition. As Hollywood turns out fewer exceptional movies every year, I wonder if the Oscars will ever pick the right film again.

Texts and people

This is my first post.

I felt compelled to write this trivial account of my thoughts today to express to you, that I am not impressed with people lately. As obvious as that statement sounds based off of my url, it is nonetheless relevant. Whilst writing this, I am still in limbo, a text limbo if you will; this purgatory of sorts is the undesirable status of someone who waits for a reply. A reply is all I ask for, is that so much? How about “I can’t talk now” or “I’ll talk to you tomorrow”, something, but not replying is rude. We all know you see the texts. You think the ignore button on your phone is sneaky? Well all it does is send the call to voicemail before it finishes all the rings, it’s quite obvious what you’re doing. Therefore, not sly but the contrary. Rather than waste my time assuming we are friends, do us all a favor and say you’d rather not talk anymore.

Now having said that, I try to forget every time and instance this happens, whether it’s with the same person or not, because I want to believe: it’s an isolated incident, it was misinterpreted on my part, the texts weren’t sent. But, I was educated and I know better. At my age, one can only have so many friends, and I have, but each and every one has been lost. It’s a daunting thought, “wow I have no old friends”, but I don’t care. At my new job, I thought I made a terrific new friend, guess what, she is kaput (the reason for tonight’s entry). You say, but (let’s call me Silvio) “Silvio, you are so young you have your life ahead of you”. To that, I say “yes I do, which is why I have learned quickly and can no longer tread the waters of worthless people”.

I promise this is the last paragraph of this unwanted sadness I feel because of this person (let’s call her Anna). I never want or expect anything other than friendship out of people. I will miss this person’s friendship in particular. (On a side note, I’ve realized that my friendships seem to follow a pattern and as much as I try to alter that pattern to really enjoy a person, it always repeats history. Thus, I have no hesitation in grouping mankind as a whole in terms of their shortcomings) In summary, I can no longer accept my feelings being wasted on a person who I thought was of incalculable importance, because I have now discovered their true value. Every time I tell myself that it’s not impossible for friends (or people for that matter) to have mutual vested interest, but FTS, it is impossible. I will not waste anything, anymore on people of minute value. Has the world always been this way? NO. Hence why marriages meant more and occurred more and kept more than our current era. It is for this reason why I find marriage pointless and it’s not worth my time. It’s much easier living without inevitable disappointments.
